Reproduction Sports/Formula Vee Sporty Walnut Gear Shift Knobs to fit ’68-’79 Beetle and Karmann Ghia with 12mm gear shift threads.
The Sports Walnut Gear Shift Knob was offered from 1971 by VW Dealerships and from Kamei. Notably part of the 1973 model year French Marron Glace, 1974 Big Beetle and South African Fun Bug, 1975 La Grande Bug special edition packages. Typically originally sold with the silver Wolfsburg City Crest or silver VW Roundel badges these can also be supplied with any of our other Formula Vee range badges – just state which in the Notes section of your order.
Please be aware the Sports will not install to the polished steel lever sleeves that fit over the original shifter as seen on GT (1300_S) and Jeans Beetles. Knobs for those based on the GT and Jeans package style are available under our product name ‘Rallye‘.
This product is produced by Beetleness in collaboration with Team Colorado VW Historic Rallying and represents a highly accurate and quality reproduction using the best possible contemporary materials of the original VW Dealer Sports gear shift knobs. The walnut is hand turned in an English countryside workshop and this quality not available anywhere else, no two exactly the same. Made for VW fans by VW fans.

- Hand turned in solid American Black Walnut and finished with two coats of clear satin wax/oil for a hard-wearing, protected finish.
- Custom race engineered, knurled and bonded, Black *Delrin® 12mm threaded insert.
- All UK product.
*Delrin® combines low-friction and high-wear resistance with high tensile strength and stiffness, creep and fatigue resistance, and significantly high impact resistance. No other VW gear shift knobs utilise this material.
